How to sync Shopify orders to Google Sheets
Updated November 2, 2026
A Google Sheet is often the easiest place to manage custom orders. Your whole team can open it, sort it, and tick off work, without needing access to your Shopify admin. There are three common ways to get your orders there.
Export a CSV from Shopify
In your Shopify admin, open Orders, choose Export, and import the CSV file into Google Sheets. This is free and works well for a one-off report. The file is out of date as soon as a new order arrives, and you need to repeat the export each time. Rows can also need cleaning up before the team can use them.
Build a connection with an automation tool
General automation tools can send each new order to a sheet. They're flexible, but you have to map every field yourself. Orders with several items and personalization fields usually take extra setup, and each automation step can add to the cost.
Use an app made for Google Sheets
An app handles the setup and keeps the sheet up to date for you. CraftRow: Google Sheets Sync is built for this job. Here's how it works.
- Install CraftRow in your Shopify admin.
- Connect your Google account and create your spreadsheet.
- Take orders as usual. New orders appear in the sheet within about a minute.
Keeping personalization details with each order
If you sell personalized products, the customer's choices are stored as line item properties in Shopify, such as engraving text, a name, or a font. A plain export can make these hard to work with when an order has several products.
CraftRow gives each product its own row, with its properties in a Custom Properties column:
| Product Title | Quantity | Custom Properties |
|---|---|---|
| Personalized Mug | 2 | Engraving Text: Happy Birthday Personalization Name: Sarah |
| Custom Name Necklace | 1 | Name on Necklace: Amelia Font: Script |
What's included in each row
- Shopify order ID, order number, and order date
- Line item ID, product title, SKU, quantity, and unit price
- Currency, payment status, fulfillment status, and whether the order is open or cancelled
- Custom properties and order notes, which you can turn off
Customer names, email addresses, and postal addresses aren't included, unless a customer typed them into a note or property.
Common questions
Does the sheet update automatically?
Yes. New orders are added automatically on every plan. On the Pro plan, rows also update when an order is paid, fulfilled, refunded, edited, or cancelled.
Can I import orders I already have?
Yes, on the Pro plan. CraftRow can import orders from the last 60 days, which is the period Shopify gives apps access to by default.
Can I sort the sheet or add my own columns?
Yes. You can sort and filter rows, and add columns to the right of column O. CraftRow finds each row by its Line Item ID, so sorting doesn't affect updates.
Can CraftRow see my other Google Drive files?
No. It can only open the spreadsheet it created for you, which stays in your own Google Drive.
What happens if I go over my plan's limit?
Your orders aren't lost. They wait in CraftRow and sync when your monthly limit resets, or as soon as you upgrade.
How much does it cost?
CraftRow has a free plan for up to 50 orders a month. The Pro plan is $9 a month for up to 1,000 orders. See pricing for what's included.
